Zeitraffer App Reviews

Simple, reliable time lapse movies

Not much to say. It does exactly what you expect, and it works well. Would be great to have some export presets, maybe with some automatic cropping, but its not necessary, since you can batch-process the photos beforehand. Fantastic, useful app. Just made a time-lapse of decorating the tree on our babys first Christmas. Thanks to the developer!

Nice and Simple!

This app does exactly what it says it will. Just group your photos in a folder, select the folder, hit export and you are done. If you arent looking for bloatware and just want to stitch photos together, then this is a great choice. Thanks for making it free!

Awesome

I cant believe this app is free. It is better than many programs on a variety of platforms. It took some hard to manage large files I had and turned them into an excellent time-lapse in a few minute. It will save you a lot of time and money. I would add that this is a great program for people who are new to time-lapse.

Free yes….BUT…..

I dont understand the reviews. The frame rate does not work. If you have 8 or 500 photos the speed is so fast you cant see the photos. I tried to adjust the rate..went from bad to worse! Got a file with 100 photos….so fast it distorted the photos. I tried adjusting the frame rate, 10, 30 is the default, and 50. NO GOOD. Same fast rate its impossible to adjust correctly and impossible to make anything of sense or useable!

Simple and Excellent

Kudos to the developer for creating the perfect app for those of us that want to make simple time-lapses. There are very few bells and whistles here, which is great, because I dont want bells and whistles. I just want a simple time-lapse, and Zeitraffer delivers.

Only does JPEG

Only works with lossy JPEG files. Doesnt handle anything else.

Precisely Nailed

Absolutely perfect. I dont know how simple it is to put together an app like this, but it is perfect none the less. It does precisely what it says, and even more importantly, it does precisely what I want. It is simple to use. It produces good results every time. The perfect Time Lapse app.

Did not work, visual errors

My files are 218x218, created by the "take video snapsot" action in Automator. When the video was made it has strange diagonal lines. Probably some math problem, such as making assumptions about the width or aspect ratio of the source images.

Snazzy little app

It does exactly what it says and turns out a nice product. One suggestion I have for the developers: Give us the ability to automatically calculate the aspect ratio for the export size based on one of the inputs, rather than trying to remember (or more likely look up) what the proper width is for a given height.

It does ONE thing really well

Zeitraffer is literally an app I was dreaming of while working on a stop motion project several years ago. It converts still pics to movies with variable framerates and variable output sizes, and thats it. Aside from the pre-defined output aspect ratio mentioned previously, theres not a single thing this app needs (and even then, that would be a nice add-on, but the app works fine as is.)

Great for what it is.

I really like the app. It needs a drop-down list of common aspect ratios and resolutions, along with the custom that it has. Id like the option to use every nth photo. Id like to be able to choose a subset of the photos in a directory as a segment to process. I have a high resolution 4:3 format camera, Id like to be able to define a 16:9 region to use for the output. But for what it does, its great! My kids love it when I show them a time-lapse of the surnise, or clouds going by. Anyway, Im really happy with the app, and look forward to updates!

pan app

Great app, I am having a lot of fun with it. Very easy to use once you understand the settings, it took me about 10 minutes with some trial and error. I take my panoramic photos and turn them into works of art. I love the fisheye effect.

Very nice application

This application makes a great movie and saves a lot of time trying to mess around with FCP, iMovie etc. A nice thing is that once the movie is made, one can actually EDIT the movies properties — not so easy to do with individual photographs on FCP or iMovie. This program is much appreciated! Thanks.

Great app. Very EASY

I have a Gopro hero 3+ black and I really enjoy making time lapses with it. At first I used iMovie but it didn’t really “flow” very well. With this app, I simply chose my pictures and fps and BAM! It was done in about 3 minutes. Great app for an even better price!

EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED

This application did exactly what it said it would do, and has not failed me once. Im’ able to take photos from my GoPro Hero 3+ (Best camera I ever owned) and make a buitiful time-lapse that amazes every time.

Super Awesome!

This tool works surprisingly well and quick. I really prefer using this vs iMovie or Adobe Premier, so much easier and FASTer. Thank You! P.S. Some image rendering issues with the UI but not a big deal.

Pretty Darn GREAT!

This so simple and effective, I had to do a double take…"Something must be wrong; that was too fast!” Nope - Just elegant and lightning fast. No frills no spills. I tried 40 or so good-sized (just 800x600 px) images as a test and it came out to 2.5MB. Framerate, of course, does not really matter - it’s whatever your photos total out to. The 2.5 was then knocked down to about 850KB in Handbrake with no perceptible loss in quality. ANYWAY - Highly recommended!

Easy to use but buggy

Simple enough to make but I kept getting stutters in the middle of some of my time lapses. I had to retry a couple of times. The really long ones got a psychedelic thing happening in the middle of the sequence. Time Lapse Assembler is a better program for this.

Very Easy, Easy to use. Five Stars

Awesome. Love it. Just used it.

Couldn’t be this good...

…but it is. Spent a couple of days tring to find how to do stop motion on iMovie but had no luck. Decided to search “stop motion” on the app store and see what comes up. This had great ratings and it was free, so I thought something must be wrong with it but downloaded it anyway. Choose my source folder. frames per second and hit “export” in less than 2 minutes it was done processing 12megapixel images and there were about 320 of them. Now I can take that movie file and import it to another program to add audio ext. Brilliant simple program that does what it’s suppose to. My only complaint is that the name is odd. 6 months from now (if I don’t do any more stop motion) I’ll be looking at the app “Zeitraffer” and wondering what the heck is it for...
